The Writing Society at my University had their first ever meeting on Monday and I decided to pop along and see if it would help me to get my metaphorical writing juices flowing. Another reason I decided to go was because they’d specifically said that the society would be a “safe environment to share work” but as soon as the criticism began for the the first piece I couldn’t help but feel like I’d been lied to.
I’d expected to listen and give constructive criticism as a group but instead it seemed more like an audition with a panel of judges pointing out all of your flaws. I’m not even gonna lie, it was a lot like watching X Factor but being able to speak up as a member of the audience.
Who was in the panel? It was of course the “leaders” of the society (aka President, VP and Secretary). The trio are made up of second year students studying Creative Writing (as do most of the society’s members, there were only 3 of us non-creative writing students) and all three got on my nerves.
Luckily, it wasn’t something that I’d written that got ripped apart by the beasts, it was the work of a Guy (forgot his name) who seemed to take it well. Now I haven’t spoken to said Guy since the meeting but I took offence from their comments for him.

My cousin and I recently made an audio log about Kristen Stewart and various other Twilight related topics, so if you’re interested or just want to know what my voice sounds like, feel free to
