Frustrations of a Reader

The Writing Society at my University had their first ever meeting on Monday and I decided to pop along and see if it would help me to get my metaphorical writing juices flowing. Another reason I decided to go was because they’d specifically said that the society would be a “safe environment to share work” but as soon as the criticism began for the the first piece I couldn’t help but feel like I’d been lied to.

I’d expected to listen and give constructive criticism as a group but instead it seemed more like an audition with a panel of judges pointing out all of your flaws. I’m not even gonna lie, it was a lot like watching X Factor but being able to speak up as a member of the audience.

Who was in the panel? It was of course the “leaders” of the society (aka President, VP and Secretary). The trio are made up of second year students studying Creative Writing (as do most of the society’s members, there were only 3 of us non-creative writing students) and all three got on my nerves.

Luckily, it wasn’t something that I’d written that got ripped apart by the beasts, it was the work of a Guy (forgot his name) who seemed to take it well. Now I haven’t spoken to said Guy since the meeting but I took offence from their comments for him.

Bourjois Liner Feutre Review

I had high expectations for this eyeliner. I saw a youtuber rave about how amazingly easy this was to use and was sold. Sadly, my expectations were not met and I am not happy with this. I was hoping for it to rival my (initial) love for the Max Factor Masterpiece but sadly, no.

I bought this from Boots for £5.99 after deciding it was time to take a break from my trusty L’Oreal Lineur Intense and perhaps find something better.

Usually I test liners out for line thickness, ease of brush use and drying time just before buying them. It was easy to use which was good but after 10 minutes of waiting for it to dry, it smudged as soon as I touched it. So when I first tested this out in Boots I wasn’t 100% happy with it. I should have probably gone with my initial judgement of the liner, but I thought that drying time was something I could deal with.

Little did I know that drying time wouldn’t be my biggest problem with this liner…

My, haven’t you grown since I last saw you!

Well not really, but whatever. So.. it’s been a while! Two 1/2 months later and I am now a second year English Lit student with fiery red hair! Woot ^^

More on that later though.. Let’s go back to Summer for a little while.

I spent the majority of the rest of my summer watching dramas into the early hours of the morning and sleeping into the afternoon. Unproductive; I admit. But I regret nothing. I managed to finish: 49 days (20), Bad Guy (17 episodes), Can You Hear my Heart? (30), City Hunter (20), Dr. Champ (16), Drunken to Love You (18), Heartstrings (15), Iris (20), Lie to Me (16), Oh! My Lady (16) Scent of a Woman (16), The Greatest Love/Best Love (16). Which adds up to make 204 hours which is around 8 1/2 days straight of kdrama watching. Not to mention the fact that I started and haven’t had the time to finish Birdie Buddy, Can’t Lose, Chuno, Hana Kimi Remake, Hi, My Sweetheart, Meteor Garden, Miss Ripley, Myung Wol the Spy, Ouran High School Host Club and Protect the Boss! Most of the ones on the last list I’ve watched half of. Yes, that’s a lot of dramas but I had around 6 months off so 8+ days straight of kdramas was nothing to me!

I also read a few books! Alice in Wonderland (which I found to be overrated – yeah I said it!), Prophecy: Child of Light by F. E. Heaton, Second Chance by Jodi Piccoult and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I update my book reading on my goodreads account, so if you’re interested be-friend me over there! ^^ Which reminds me, as stated previously, I’ve been working on Novel Nerds with my sister and cousin. We’ve gained a fair amount of Tumblr followers over the Summer but there’s always space for more! D’ya know what I’m saying? ;) My cousin and I recently made an audio log about Kristen Stewart and various other Twilight related topics, so if you’re interested or just want to know what my voice sounds like, feel free to watch/listen.
